This chronological timeline traces the major stages in the life of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (the sîra), from his birth in Mecca in 571 to his passing in Medina in 632.
The events are divided into three great periods: the pre-Islamic period (Jâhiliyya), Islam before the Hijra, and Islam after the Hijra — the emigration to Medina that marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar. Birth, the first revelations in the cave of Hira, the Hijra, the battles of Badr and Uhud, the Treaty of Hudaybiyya, the conquest of Mecca, the farewell pilgrimage: so many milestones placed on a single timeline.
An ideal visual aid for memorising the sequence of events and studying the sîra. The timeline can be viewed below and downloaded as a PDF for printing.
