I was looking for Arabic language classes so that I could read the Qur’an. Last year, I took the plunge and started the classes as a complete beginner.
The method designed by Idris offers a real balance between comprehension, writing, grammar and oral practice in small groups. I particularly appreciated the kindness of the Institut Imtiyaz team and this all-round approach where language learning is enriched by a spiritual dimension. The pace is ideal, with an hour and a half of class to tackle new concepts, speak, listen, make mistakes (because that’s how you learn), complemented by revision exercises for the week. You can tell this set-up has proven itself.
The early days are a bit disorienting, as with any new language, but if you stick with it, progress comes quickly. The pleasure of understanding a few words and turns of phrase makes the classes more and more interesting. And honestly, learning directly from the verses of the Qur’an makes the learning all the more captivating and concrete. In short, I was always delighted to log on and have a good time learning with a really nice group. Can’t wait to start again!
Salam. An exceptional method. It combines grammar, vocabulary and tafsîr, but also reading and practical exercises in small groups. I’ve been following the method for almost 3 years now, on a friend’s advice. This method enabled me to read within 3 months, because we practise a lot. Idrîs de Vos is very demanding of himself and very kind. He puts us at ease, which allows us to ask any question without fear of being judged. The groups are warm and human. At the same time, this method is a great spiritual bath that purifies our soul while educating it. Idris also lets us explore the polysemy of the Arabic language, the multiplicity of meanings of certain verses and their unity at the same time. It opens doors, and the exchange of perspectives does the rest. I came out of every class recharged with spiritual energy. These classes demand a lot of involvement and concentration; the groups are stimulating. I will be forever grateful to Idris. May Allah protect him, for he has made it possible, and this is priceless, for me to free myself and gain access to the infinite dimensions and the symbolism offered by the sacred book, Al Coran Al 3adim.

Salam. I’ve been following the method for two and a half years. A friend had told me about it. I wanted to access the text as quickly as possible. The method is incredible, I was blown away: after 3 months I could read. The role-play situations force us to push past our limits. What’s more, the method is kind; Idris gives everything, he’s a perfectionist with himself and so humble, which puts us at ease very quickly. The learning is language learning, but it’s also an inner journey. The method helps develop our spirituality, it reveals it, and we work on the form but also on the substance. The group is exceptional, we learn Al Ihsane, respect, tolerance. I loved this group like my family, and sidi Idris was an oustad, but he also helped us with tafsîr, always leaving doors open and never imposing anything. I will be forever grateful to him; he set me free and gave me access to the sacred book in its original text. Finally, we do a lot of oral work in small groups, which forces us to put what we’ve learned into practice. It’s the best Arabic method I know, and this method also purifies and educates the soul.

Two years ago, I walked through the door of this institute to learn Qur’anic Arabic. But from the very first weeks, I found there much more than a language. The promised double gain was real: on the one hand, mastery of classical and modern Arabic; on the other, privileged access to the Tafsîr of the Qur’an, which has lit up my nights and my days.
