This is the most common term for ยซ to go ยป, ยซ to go away ยป, without further connotation. Very common in the Qur’an, it is also used figuratively.

They said: ยซ O our father, we went off racing and left Joseph with our belongings. Then the wolf ate him. ยป (12:17)
ููุฅูุฐูุง ุฐูููุจู ุงููุฎููููู ุณููููููููู ู ุจูุฃูููุณูููุฉู ุญูุฏูุงุฏู
Once the fear has gone away, they flay you with sharp tongues. (33:19)
ุงูููุตูุฑููู
Form I of this verb means ยซ to turn away ยป. Form VII thus literally means ยซ to turn oneself away ยป. But it is often used to mean ยซ to go away ยป, sometimes with a negative connotation of disdain.
ููุฅูุฐูุง ู ูุง ุฃูููุฒูููุชู ุณููุฑูุฉู ููุธูุฑู ุจูุนูุถูููู ู ุฅูููู ุจูุนูุถู ูููู ููุฑูุงููู ู ู ููู ุฃูุญูุฏู ุซูู ูู ุงููุตูุฑููููุง ุตูุฑููู ุงูููููู ูููููุจูููู ู ุจูุฃููููููู ู ููููู ู ููุง ููููููููููู
And whenever a sura is revealed, they look at one another: ยซ Does anyone see you? ยป then they turn away. May God turn away their hearts, for they are a people who do not understand. (9:127)
ุงูููุทููููู
Form I of this verb means ยซ to let go ยป, ยซ to release ยป. Form VII thus literally means ยซ to set off ยป. It is often used to mean ยซ to go away ยป, with a connotation of freedom.
ููุงููุทูููููุง ุญูุชููู ุฅูุฐูุง ุฑูููุจูุง ููู ุงูุณูููููููุฉู ุฎูุฑูููููุง
So they both set off. And when they had boarded the ship, he made a hole in it. (18:71)
ุณุงุฑู / ููุณููุฑู
This verb originally means ยซ to take to the road ยป or ยซ to travel about ยป. It often has the sense of ยซ to go away ยป. It should not be confused with ุณุฑู / ูุณุฑู, which means ยซ to travel by night ยป.
ููููู ููุง ููุถูู ู ููุณูู ุงููุฃูุฌููู ููุณูุงุฑู ุจูุฃููููููู ุขููุณู ู ููู ุฌูุงููุจู ุงูุทูููุฑู ููุงุฑูุง
Then, when Moses had fulfilled the appointed term and set out with his family, he saw a fire on the side of the Mount. (28:29)
ู ูุถูู / ููู ูุถูู
This verb takes the sense of ยซ to go ยป, but also of ยซ to pass ยป. Like the latter verb in French, it can apply to time as well as to persons.
ููุฅูุฐู ููุงูู ู ููุณูู ููููุชูุงูู ููุง ุฃูุจูุฑูุญู ุญูุชููู ุฃูุจูููุบู ู ูุฌูู ูุนู ุงููุจูุญูุฑููููู ุฃููู ุฃูู ูุถููู ุญูููุจูุง
And when Moses said to his servant: ยซ I will not stop until I reach the junction of the two seas, even if I must go on for long years. ยป (18:60)

And the example of the earlier [generations] has passed. (43:8)
ุฃูุฏูุจูุฑู
The root of this verb means ยซ behind ยป. Its etymological sense is therefore ยซ to turn one’s back ยป, and by extension ยซ to depart ยป. It is the opposite of ุฃููุจููู (see below).
ุซูู ูู ุฃูุฏูุจูุฑู ููุณูุนูู ููุญูุดูุฑู ููููุงุฏูู ููููุงูู ุฃูููุง ุฑูุจููููู ู ุงููุฃูุนูููู
Then he turned away in haste, gathered [the people] and proclaimed: ยซ I am your Lord, the Most High. ยป (79:22-24)

ุฃูุชูู / ููุฃูุชูู / ุฌุงุกู / ููุฌููุกู
According to some, the Qur’an uses the verb ุฃุชู more generally to express the coming of positive and easy things. Others say it is more often used for concrete realities, unlike ุฌุงุก which is used for abstract realities. Still others say ุฃุชู is used for what comes from nearby, and ุฌุงุก for what comes from afar.
But the most convincing version seems to be the one holding that ุฌุงุก is used for facts that have already come, or whose coming is certain, unlike ุฃุชู. This is why ุฌุงุก is not used in the imperfect.
ููุงูููุง ุฃููุฐููููุง ู ูู ููุจููู ุฃูู ุชูุฃูุชูููููุง ููู ูู ุจูุนูุฏู ู ูุง ุฌูุฆูุชูููุง
ยซ We were persecuted before you came to us, and after you came. ยป (7:129)
ุฃูููุจููู
The root of this verb means ยซ in front ยป. Its etymological sense is therefore ยซ to present oneself face on ยป, and thus ยซ to come ยป. It is the opposite of ุฃูุฏูุจูุฑู (see above).
ููุงุณูุฃููู ุงููููุฑูููุฉู ุงูููุชูู ูููููุง ูููููุง ููุงููุนููุฑู ุงูููุชูู ุฃูููุจูููููุง ูููููุง ููุฅููููุง ููุตูุงุฏูููููู
ยซ Ask [the people of] the town where we were, and the caravan with which we arrived; we are indeed telling the truth! ยป (12:82)

ุฑุฌูุน ูููู
Besides the literal sense of ยซ to return ยป, this verb is used figuratively for ยซ returning ยป to reason, to the right path, etc. It is also used to mean ยซ to throw back a word ยป.
ููุนูุชูุฐูุฑูููู ุฅูููููููู ู ุฅูุฐูุง ุฑูุฌูุนูุชูู ู ุฅูููููููู ู
They offer you excuses when you return to them. (9:94)
ููุจูููููููุงููู ู ุจูุงููุญูุณูููุงุชู ููุงูุณูููููุฆูุงุชู ููุนููููููู ู ููุฑูุฌูุนูููู
And We tested them with good things and bad, that perhaps they might return [to the right path]. (7:168)

And if you could see when the wrongdoers are made to stand before their Lord, throwing back the word at one another! (34:31)
ุนุงุฏู / ููุนููุฏู
The root of this verb carries a sense of repetition. In the Qur’an, it is used only in the figurative sense of ยซ returning to something ยป, speaking of an action or a habit, or of ยซ returning to a state ยป.
ุนูููุง ุงูููููู ุนูู ููุง ุณููููู ููู ููู ุนูุงุฏู ููููููุชูููู ู ุงูููููู ู ููููู ููุงูููููู ุนูุฒููุฒู ุฐูู ุงููุชูููุงู ู
God has pardoned what is past, but God will take vengeance on whoever relapses. God is Almighty, Master of vengeance. (5:95)
ููู ูุง ุจูุฏูุฃูููู ู ุชูุนููุฏูููู
Just as He originated you, so you will return. (7:29)
ุงูููููููุจู
The root of this word, which is the same as the word ููููุจ (heart), means to turn over. Form VII thus literally means ยซ to turn oneself over ยป. By extension it takes the sense of ยซ to return ยป, somewhat as in French.
ููุงููููููุจููุง ุจูููุนูู ูุฉู ู ููู ุงูููููู ููููุถููู ููู ู ููู ูุณูุณูููู ู ุณููุกู ููุงุชููุจูุนููุง ุฑูุถูููุงูู ุงูููููู ููุงูููููู ุฐูู ููุถููู ุนูุธููู ู
So they returned with a favour from God and a grace; no harm touched them, and they followed what pleases God. And God is the Possessor of immense grace. (3:174)
ุขุจู / ููุฃููุจู
This term is often used in a context of returning from a journey. It can also refer to the return towards God. In the Qur’an, this root is found only as the verbal noun (maแนฃdar) in the example below, or in the derived form ุฃููุจ and the place-noun ู ูุขุจ.
ุฅูููู ุฅูููููููุง ุฅูููุงุจูููู ู
Indeed, to Us is their return. (88:25)
To stay (in a place)
ู ููุซ ูููู / ูุจูุซ ูููู
ู ููุซ is used in the Qur’an to express an indeterminate duration, while ูุจูุซ is used for a determinate duration and is generally specified by a time-marker.
ููุฃูู ููุง ุงูุฒููุจูุฏู ููููุฐูููุจู ุฌูููุงุกู ููุฃูู ููุง ู ูุง ููููููุนู ุงููููุงุณู ููููู ูููุซู ููู ุงููุฃูุฑูุถู ููุฐููููู ููุถูุฑูุจู ุงูููููู ุงููุฃูู ูุซูุงูู
The foam, for its part, disappears without a trace; but what is useful to people remains on the earth. Thus does God set forth parables. (13:17)
ููููุจูุซู ููู ุงูุณููุฌููู ุจูุถูุนู ุณูููููู
So Joseph remained in prison for several years. (12:42) โ Note: ุจูุถูุน is used for amounts below ten.
Beware of the common confusion with the verb ุจููู, which means ยซ to remain ยป or ยซ to abide ยป in the sense of ยซ not to be lacking ยป or ยซ not to cease to be ยป. It is the root of the divine name ุงูุจุงููู.
